    How important a signal is Freshness?

    Searches can generally be navigational, information or transactional and Matt Cutts from Google suggests that sometimes people are looking for something that is actually 'fresh' or 'new'. 

    Keep in mind that there are over 200 signals that Google users to rank sites and a trap would be to constantly create new content and ignore other SEO aspects that are also important (unless you are in the News Business or a leading Tech Industry).

    That said, we suggest that every site is regularly updated, providing information about your industry, keeping your site fresh for customers and increasing the frequency of visits by search engines.
